About the event
Help Transition Berkeley Celebrate our 15th Anniversary!!
Enjoy a potluck and social time from 6:30-7 pm, Film starts at 7 pm.
Join us and the Gill Tract Community Farm to watch and discuss the film Occupy the Farm, directed by Berkeley filmmaker Todd Darling.
The film tells the story of a community’s fight to save public land for urban farming, profiling an ongoing social movement that started with the 2012 occupation of UC Berkeley owned land called the Gill Tract in Albany, California. The occupation began on Earth Day 2012, when activists broke locks, planted 15,000 seedlings and established an encampment with hopes of creating a community farm. Can lessons learned then help us with the power struggles we face today?
Cost: $10 suggested (to cover venue, but no one turned away)
Bring: A potluck dish to share if you like at 6:30 pm
